6 weeks at The Florence Academy of Art

This February, I left the snowy hills of Norway to go to sunny Florence. Not a bad choice!

I went to do a 6 weeks intensive art course at The Florence Academy. In those weeks, we got a compressed taste of the 2 first years of the full-time study at the academy.
Bargue-drawing, anatomy, life drawing, art history and painting. A good way of getting to know the academy and its teachings, if you are pondering whether to apply for their full-time program.

As the title of the course says, it is quite intensive, and you should be prepared to stand on your feet 5 days a week. One day a week, the class goes to a reknown art museum with a knowledgeable art historian. There is life drawing classes in most evenings, or talks on interesting subjects like the anatomy of the face or business tips for the artist.
Even in the weekends, there are the portrait club, where you can go to draw or paint.

All in all, a busy 6 weeks!

I would recommend this course to anyone who is serious about improving their art skills, but the course is not for beginners. I loved every minute of it, and used the weekends for exploring the incredibly beautiful city of Florence.
